Galthera Research was created because Pharma R&D is poorly served by traditional advisory firms. The reasons are myriad, though problems with expertise, accountability, cost and trust are often cited. The impact on the R&D client experience has, too often, been a profound sense of underwhelm and a poor return on investment.

Experience
Prioritising direct experience changes the paradigm and dynamic in a consulting context. Trust is established more quickly with someone who has walked in your shoes. Solutions are developed more quickly, reducing cost. We look for leads who are surefooted and specialised to navigate difficult terrain. More importantly, they are motivated by a desire to share the knowledge and insight gained from also walking the exact paths you are on now.
"Drug Development is different. We know you feel it, because we feel it too. It’s highly regulated. It takes years and billions of dollars to advance a single product to registration. Many fail. Specializations and functional capabilities are based on hard won technical expertise and academic training. Underneath it all are real patients and their families, with urgent needs. It’s a complex, multifaceted and important endeavor. A strong case can be made that it’s the most important industry in the world. Consulting, as usually conceived, doesn’t cut it for drug development. Instead, the globally distributed experience of drug developers should be more easily accessed. We need to learn what’s been tried by others, what has worked and what hasn’t, and what else we could do. We need to more effectively communicate with peers in the fields of digital, data and technology, what it is we need from them to enable us to bring new therapeutic options to patients at a reasonable cost and minimal burden to society.
Galthera Research is building that exact mechanism through our network of experts. We know that the true value of the traditional consulting model isn’t knowing something about your business that you don’t, it’s getting smart young people to rigorously focus on your problem until it’s solved (as long as you’re still paying). But, there is no substitute for experience and a few hours of access to a “subject matter expert” can only cover so much ground.
